GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HONGKONG. 16th. September, 1913.
Gr
Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of
2540 your Despatch No. 242 of the 15th. of August on the subject of the
pension of Ismail Khan.
18372
2.
I gather from the War Office letter of the 30th.
of May that the object in view is to have the break in Ismail
Khan's service of eleven months between his leaving the Hongkong
Regiment and his joining the Hongkong Police condoned in order that he may be eligible for a pension from Army Funds in respect of his Military service prior to joining the Hongkong Police.
3.
There is no objection on the part of this
Government to Ismail Khan's service in the Hongkong Regiment and in the Hongkong Police being considered as continuous pensionable service, provided that the pension for which he may become eligible on final retirement, in respect of his service in the Hongkong Police, is not increased thereby. By this I mean that any pension for which this Government may become liable will be calculated with- -out any reference to his former service.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
Cand severn
Officer Administering the Government.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
LEWIS HARCOURT, M.P.
